"So what's with the name?"

As our business continues to grow, this is by far our most frequently asked question, and at times is paired with the slight misconception that we are not "family friendly" or "faith based"

We get it! However, that couldn't be further from the truth...

This business has been built on the importance of family tradition, hard work, and a whole lot of faith - we truly wouldn't exist without all of these.

In 1976, the name "Ragged Ass" was comically branded by Richard Rowe (2nd Generation). If you've ever tapped hundreds of trees, hand collected sap in knee deep snow, and boiled into all hours of the night just to produce a few gallons of syrup, then you most certainly know how ragged ass tired sapping can make you. And thus, Ragged Ass Syrup Company was born!

To be completely honest, changing our name has been discussed. However, just as our family values have held strong, so will our slightly unorthodox name as a homage to the late Richard Rowe.

So while our name won't always appeal to the masses, we're proud to be the 4th generation of RASC sappers and look forward to teaching our 5th generation saplings the importance of hard work, faith, and true authenticity.

  • "A Wisconsin Trifecta"

RASC's Organic Wisconsin Maple Syrup has been aged in Wisconsin White Oak Bourbon Barrels from Wollersheim Distillery, of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.

Our barrel aging process lasts anywhere from 6-12+ months, creating a unique depth of flavor that highlights the rich bourbon-like flavors of vanilla and charred-oak, with the familiar caramel-like notes of maple syrup.

While surely delicious drizzled over waffles and pancakes, don't limit this bold syrup to breakfast alone! From Old Fashioneds to ice cream, you'll want to pair this with everything!

Certified Organic Maple Syrup

Isn't maple syrup already organic? The simple answer is "no"

While maple syrup is a naturally derived product, there is a strict standard that must be met during the actual process of maple syrup harvesting and production in order for it to be considered certified organic.

At Ragged Ass Syrup Company, we work hard to uphold this certification by ensuring that our methods of maple production do not use any pesticides or harsh chemicals on or around our maple farm. Through our harvesting and production practices you can rest assured that you are consuming a truly organic product!
